I am thankful to have had this experience and the opportunity to work on this project this year. This project has enabled me to sample different areas of the field of Geology. I learned that rocks are pretty darn awesome. I also learned that I really, really like studying rocks, geology, glaciers, and really anything biotic or abiotic that has to do with the formation of our current environment.
Thank you to Ms. Utterback, my mentor, who helped me decipher complicated language and texts, kept my exploration on track, encouraged me to try new things, and most importantly prompted me to ask more questions. Thank you to Mr. Calos who set up multiple field trips, provided me with many print resources, and for pushing me to expand my project in directions I couldn't have foreseen in September.
Though I graduate from Emma Willard in less than a week, my exploration of the field of geology has only begun. In a sense, I've reached the end of the beginning. From here I can only dive deeper into the field, and I hope to do so in college.
